Fontaine Fifth Wheel Application The Fontaine Fifth Wheel Manual Wedge Slide Bracket (MWS) In some applications, you need the flexibility to reposition your fifth wheel to balance the load on the axles. Fontaine's Manual Wedge Slide Bracket Fifth Wheel gives you the flexibility you need. Our sliding fifth wheel uses a strong mechanical linkage with tapered slide locking wedges to provide a strong and reliable operation. It's built with either the NO-SLACK® II standard-duty top plate or the 5092 heavy-duty top plate formed with a low-alloy, high-tensile steel. Both incorporate a heavy-duty steel substructure for increased integrity. The surface of our top plate is designed for uniform lubrication. The one-piece cast saddle bearings are built with large grease grooves for uniform grease flow and coverage. Safety, like strength, is engineered into the sliding fifth wheel. The fifth wheel locking mechanism incorporates an integral secondary safety lock to prevent false coupling and premature trailer disengagement.
