PACCAR Purchasing is organized into several commodity groups under the headings of Production and Non-Production purchasing. Each commodity is managed by a "Commodity Manager" who is responsible for a thorough understanding of the commodity, the marketplace, and all strategic purchasing functions for the commodity including negotiation of long term agreements with suppliers.
The Commodity Manager is the focal point for coordinating purchasing requirements with suppliers. All inquiries to PACCAR Purchasing should be directed through the appropriate Commodity Manager (see Contact Information).

Production Commodity Managers are
responsible for procurement of all requirements related to truck production. In developing and implementing the purchasing strategy for their commodity group, the Production Commodity Manager coordinates the requirements of internal users involving the various disciplines of design, engineering, marketing, logistics, manufacturing, and assembly. The Production group is divided into three major commodity groups. |

PACCAR continuously improves its material logistics processes by driving efficiency improvements throughout its entire supply chain.
- To achieve corporate and plant material logistics management objectives, PACCAR continuously implements improvements in Build Station Engineering, Delivery, Storage, Receiving and the Order/Delivery Process.
- The commitment by PACCAR suppliers to the material logistics process, and dedicated support of the PACCAR Transportation System (PTS), is essential to PACCAR's success as a truck manufacturer. PACCAR needs the supply base to support the process and PTS through its shipment process, packaging, labeling, EDI, bar coding, and adherence to six sigma quality standards.
- PACCAR's Supplier Packaging Guidelines define the requirements for protective packaging of production parts and materials shipped to Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF.
