  • DAF Introducts LF with 2009 Emission Values

DAF LFDAF’s complete range of models is now available with emission values that comply with 2009 legislation. The LF range of distribution trucks with Euro 5 emission levels will be available this summer.

The LF Euro 5 offers a choice of three engines: the 4.5-liter four-cylinder PACCAR FR engine with outputs of 118 kW/160 horsepower and the 6.7-liter six-cylinder PACCAR GR engine with outputs of 165 kW/224 horsepower and with 184 kW/250 horsepower.

Both of these six-cylinder Euro 5 engines also are offered in the DAF CF65. The engines emit about 40% less nitrogen oxides than the Euro 4 models currently compulsory in the E.U., and produce 30% less nitrogen oxides and 80% fewer soot particles than vehicles with a Euro 3 engine.

Similar to the Euro 4 engines, the Euro 5 models draw on DAF Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Technology in order to comply with the stringent emission standards. With this technology, a solution called AdBlue is injected into the exhaust gases, so that nitrogen oxides are broken down into the harmless substances nitrogen and water in the DeNOx catalytic converter. The emissions after-treatment technology has no effect on the engine, and therefore the engine settings can be optimized to achieve ideal combustion and low fuel consumption. The advanced Euro 5 engines do not need a soot filter to meet the stringent requirement of 0.02 grams per kW/h.
